PROTON.EXE (c) Heribert Cypionka Understanding the most common event in living cells PROTON.EXE is a freeware app that simulates proton-related metabolism in cell suspensions. Starting with recorded pH curves it describes the underlying metabolic processes by Michaelis-Menten kinetics. The simulation includes vectorial transport processes, changes of the components of the proton-motive force (delta pH and membrane potential), and ATP conservation. This helps to understand the chemiosmotic theory and bioenergetics.
